WATERWORKS AND SEWERAGE.

The annual report of the Commissioners of sewers nnd Water Supply shows that the waterworks branch 1» io goed order, and that po accidents have happened throughout the year, Tne second boiler and pumpivg engoe at the station were completed early in ihe year, the total cost ot which work 18 $4,324.04. The amount spent On sewer con- struction during the year was about $71,000. During the year sewerage deben- tures to the amouat of $96,000 were sold, bringing the tota! issue up to $117,000. POLICE COURT.

Mr. H. V . Palmer, Clerk of this Court, reports ths during the year 1899 there were 436 cases heard and disposed of in the City Police Court, an increase of 19 over the previous year, Of these, convictions were obtained in 378 casee, 51 charges were dismissed and tuere were seven cases sent to the Supreme Court. There were 275 convictions for dronkenness against 256 the previous year, There were 20 coavicuons for violating the Liquor Regulation Act compared wiih 22 »m 1898. ‘Tbe receipts for the year amounted t» $1122.47 agsiost $1289.28 in 1898. In all 831 documents were issued aod delivered io the police for service or execution. Dog tax to the amount of $600 hax bean collected through the medium of the court.

CITY COURT.

In the City Court durieg the year 1899, according to the report of the clerk, there were 73 appeals from the valuation of real estate, personal property sod the imposition of pol! taxes heard and disposed of. There were 171 executions issued for the collection of taxes, against 2583 in the year 1898. The receipts of the court for the year amount to $52.71.
