When we arrived at Regina we marched to barracks, about two miles from the city. We had our breakfast in barracks, and were afterwards given four blanket- and a straw mattress each, andj shown to a room with ten beds in it. From there we went about the tu‘ldings and saw some of the horses. In one place were four In- dian prisoners with a shakle on their feet to which was attached a chain abeut four teet long with a clog of steel on the end of it. Standing guard over the [a- dians was a policeman with a loaded re~ volver. They wereworking. Some were imprisoned for stealing, otbers for getting drunk and various misdemeanors. We had nothing to do the firet day. We had some real pleasure in witnessing the splen- did horsemanship of the police when breaking in horses. The bronches kick and jump continually, and are always trying to throw their rider ; but I believe a gatling gun would not get them off.

We had our first drill this morning, It was a short one, about an hour, and we are off duty fer today. Here we have every convyenience,—reading room, gyms nasium, baths, all sorts of games. There isa piano bere and abundance ef music. The regulations require us to be in our room at kaif-past nine at night, up at six, breakfast at seven, dioner at twelve,
