CM’IENI‘S & CRITICISVIS

After the student‘s meeting on Oct. 7, at which students expressed their Views Pres. Meincke"s proposed changes at UPEI, I received a number of comments and criticisms. I think it might be of interest ‘ to students if I expressed these publicly.

Before I do that I will say the following:

At one point I was asked ‘to read a proposal fran a student who had laryngitis. This pro— posal, in effect, called for an investigation into the manner in which the "Meincke Report" was made and, in the event that it was done moonstimtionally, the students should proceed to take legal action with the ultinate aim of de-throning (inpeaching) the President. ' ‘ However, because I was afraid that the press would PiCk up on the issue and destroy the credibility of the meeting and because I was afraid of personal vulnerability I destroyed the intent of this person's proposal through some can- ments I made. - I realize that I was wrong to do that and I would like togapologize to person congealed. To this I say:- first, I'm still learning to chair a mass meeting; and secondly, I believe sane good'oould be taken frcm these happenings. At least students had the , opportunity to see how respon- sible (or non-responsive, as the case may be) Student Council Executives are to the wishes'of studa'zts.
