MINUTES OF STUDENT COUNCIL MEETING

The agenda was read and the feilowing items were added under other business 1) Petition 2) Bursaries 3)food Store 4) Business Hanger 5) Orientation 6) Committees 7) Film Screen

I. Bob Gray reported that the study undertaken of the feasibility of the Student Union running a bus service indicated that the cost of running such alventure is too great at the present time.

II. The new President of the Chinese Society, Peter

Chan, indicated that his society is no longer seeking a budget from the Student Union but asked cooperation

5 between the Executive and his society to enable the society to prepare a campus directory, Norbert Moran suggested that the Chinese Society be givin a Pig 'n Whistle on Tuesday March 28, 1972 and one or two others in the future.

III. Norbert Moran stated that several members of the Executive met with the residence director and that his article written in the Cadee concerning Summer School residence dealt with the results. He mentioned that_ during the first session girls in Marion will be per- mitted kitchen use, but the boys are denied kitchen use( as none exist in Memorial and that no cafeteria service will be available.

IV. Bob Gray reported that the committee planning act- ivities to raise funds on for the Easter Seals Drive and headed by Ron Kelly has several ideas settled. They include posting donation boxes around campus, profits from Pig 'n Whistle on Thursday go to Easter Seals, coffee will be 15¢ for a week and the difference will go to Easter Seals.

ning to initiate a fee for part-time students and summer school students. Several plans are available and will be studied in the near future and with Council's permission the final fee schedule will be submitted to Board of

Governors for approval. Several questions posed by members

were: 1) why should they pay if they elect no reps.to council? 2) Must even full - time students taking summer courses pay extra fees?

[1.8111 MacINtyre reported that changing rooms will be built in the Eporium following numerous suggestions from girls who felt that they and others would purchase more clothing if they could try them on in the store.

VII. Norbert Moran reported that several complaints conc— erning vulgar language used in the Soap Box article of the Cadre issue No. 15. Several members suggested that other words might be used to convey the ideas expressed.

VIII. Bob GRay / Bill NacIntyre moved that the next student Council meeting be held Sunday , April 9th at 7:30 in Memorial Hall Lounge. Carried.

Greek Political prisoners. Carried.

2) Norbert Moran/ Bill MacIntyre moved that council support the burary policy for P.E.I. students which in- volved receiving a 825 bursary with a $75 loan to a max- imum loan of $1,400.

3/Bill MacIntyre suggested that a cevtion(sick? selling food stuffs should be set in the Emporium.

4/ Pat duffy suggested the possibility of the SU hiring a full time business managdr in future. Other student un -ions have business managers and they save money.

5/ Linda Lidstone/Bill NacIntyre moved that an Evalua- tion commitee as a sub-committee of the Orientation Com -mittee be set up which will sample opinions on courses Vfrom Fresmen students and that this information be pub- .lished and given to in—coming Freshmen next year before they register. Carried.

6/ Norbert moran/ Bob Grey moved that the following peo people be appointed chairman for 1972-73.
