[t is reported that the Turks defeated the Montenegrius and forced the entrance of Duga Pass on the plains before Nicsic.

Dispatches from the Russian Telegraph Agency say that Russia is disposed to res-~ pect the route to India; and consequently will not molest the Suez Canal or Egypt, but other matters depend upon conven. tionalities.

{t is reported that President MacMahon has decided upon an immediate dissolution of the French Chamber.

The directors of the direct Cable Com- pany have announced that they are about to wind up the present Company ; and form & new one under the same name, The object of this is, to enable the new Come pany to enter at an effective working agree- ment with the Anglo-American Company,

A St. Petersburg letter says that nothing is known of any semi-official note to Lord Derby in reply to his dispatch to Gortscha- koft; and that up to the present no answer has been despatched.

The Russian Cabinet consider that Der- by’s note is couched in coarse and unusua) terms.
