Attention Biology Students

Graduate School Seminar Wednesday November 9 4pm

Dr. Donna Giberson will be presenting a ““‘how to’’ guide for people interested in graduate school programs. She intends to cover a broad range of topics, including how to find informa- tion about the fields of study which interest you, choosing a grad school, how to find a supervisor, funding, etc. She will also talk about alternative ideas for people who just aren’t quite sure what they want to do and suggestions on great ways to gain experience. There will be plenty of time for questions as well. So if you are planning or even just thinking about attending grad school next year, plan toattend this informative meeting (it may just be the extra edge you need to get in). It will be held on Wednesday November 9 at 4pm in Robertson Library Room 111.

Theatre

A new Theatre P.E.I. production, The /sland Remembers, will be presented on the Confed- eration Centre Main Stage on Friday and Sat- urday, November 4th and 5th at 8 pm.

The Island Remembers is Theatre P.E.1.’s contribution to Canada Remembers, a nationwide program sponsored by the federal government to commemorate the 50th anni- versary of the Second World War. The show, conceived and directed by Ron Irving, was written by Michael Hennessey, with musical direction by Helen MacRae. The cast features The Venerables and Hank Stinson. They are joined by a number of other talented local actors, and the Confederation Singers under the direction of Don Fraser.

The Island Remembers honours and remembers the wartime sacrifices made by Islanders, overseas and at home. Through story and song, the show commemorates that tumultuous time fifty years ago, when World War Two changed the lives of all who were a part of it.

Patrons are invited to contribute non- perishable food items for The Food Bank. Collecting bins will be located int he theatre foyer.

Tickets for The Island Remembers are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students (plus taxes), available now from Confederation Cen- tre Box Office, 566-1267.

Remember, all students are entitled toa yearbook, whether they’re graduating this year, or next year, or ever. The best thing is it’s FREE!! (Well, technically it is included in your student fee.)

Orville Erickson Memorial Scholarship Fund Eligibility:

Students pursuing a career in the field of WILD- LIFE and CONSERVATION are invited to apply for financial assistance tothe OR VILLE ERICKSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND (OEMSF). The OEMSF is awarded to full time students regis- tered in a recognized Canadian educational institu- tion.

Application Deadline:

Scholarship applications may be submitted at any time throughout the year. OEMSF Trustees evalu- ate applications in June and December only. In order to meet these deadlines, completed applica- tions must be received by the last working day before May 25 or November 25 (see address below). Amount of Award:

Up to $3,000.

Attention Seniors

Anyone interested in organizing Senior Class activities for the year are asked to contact the Student Union. The positions available are President, Vice President, Secretary and Treas- urer. These people will be responsible for any fund-raising activities or events throughout the year ending with Senior Week and Convo- cation. The Senior Class President is also a member of the UPEI Convocation Committee. (Also, it doesn’t look bad on a resume.) For more information, please contact the Student Union Office.
