The Summerside Juveniles lost the first game of the Island finals to the chsrlottntown Vics by the score cd 42 to 24. The Bummersidu team was not expected to do much better than that against their strong opponent . The summersielc boys have weaknesses. however, that might be corrected with fur- ther practice. They fall to pass me bsll around when in the vicinity of their own basket the boys beuzg rather too anxious to take shots at the basket. It seems too bad that 1 system of scoring could not be fashioned whereby players might get credit for assists as in hockey. Sometimes blsketblll players en- gineer very clever plays in which two and sometimes three men fig- ure, and yet the only one who gets credit in the box score is the man who sinks the bail. In the case of youngsters it is perhaps natural that they get over-anxious to take the scoring shot. themselves raalier than pass it to a mate who will get credit for the score, on the other hand it is I good test of players. They should subordinate their dc- sire for individual glory to the winning of the game. That is some times hard to do. but It is I sort of character test and one of the most important functions of com- petitive spcrts is to develop char- acter in its players. -

Successful Concert At Baplisi Hail

The Summerside Baptist Players topped all their previous play pres- entations when on Thursday and Friday nights they presented their three not face ”In Again, out Again" to audiences which filled the new Baptist hall to capacity on both nights. Directed by E'lV. E. J. Bs.rrass, the play had every- thing that goes to make for an hil- arious evening's fun and from the opening curtain to the final scene the play was an unbounded success in every way. The Curran and Erl'z;.zs bowling team won their second successive iioivling championship at the Capitol Bowling Alleys before a large crowd of spectators last night. defeating the City Slick- ers in the second string of games of the finals of the Summerside Commercial League by 544 pins. They went into last night's games with a lead of 108 pins and this game them a margin of 652 pins for the series.

The C and B hoys edged the Silckrrs in every game last night. the first by to) pins. the second by 44 pins, the third by 30 - pins and the fourth and last game by the overwhelming margin of pins. Doug Harkness chalked the high sing-t, 312 and Harris had the high-four, 1050 Austin Brooks was high scorer for the eight ganies, making the un- usual high average of 249.
