Tus St Joho’s Nad. Register of the 3rd inst. reports that the schr. ‘* Emeline” put into Burin en Wednesday last in a disabled con- dition. Her bowsprit was carried away, and all her sails shattered; she sustained these damages while eut in one of the recent gales. She was bound from Harbor Grace to Char- lottetown. Her Captain has telegraphed to the latter port to her owners, stating that it is his intention to winter in Burin.

Wreck ov vm Scnoonsn Crrewaro.—-We learn from ‘‘aptain Crozier, of the schr. ** Lillian Burke,” that the schr. ** Cetewaye, ewned by Captain English, of this city, was at Canso when he was there, she being in a disabled condition, from injuries received in heavy breeze @f wind, while sailing between Charlottetowe and Canso. The ‘*Cetewayo” had her sails tern a good deal and had her deck load, consisting of pork, potatees, ha carrots, &c., washed overboard. Lonpon, Dee. 7. The death is announced of the Right Honorable Sir James William Colville, in his 70th year.—Hanlan is staying in Dub- hn.— Laycock did good work on the River yesterday.--The loss to the Russian Reve- nue by the abolition of the tax on salt will be covered by an increase in duty on for- eign and manufactured goods and the im position of an Income Tax.—Mr. Parnell received two threatening letters during his stay in Waterford, one of which accuses him of destroying the country to benefit his own pocket.- A despatch from Dublin to the Times says‘ Boycotting” is now also used to compel unwilling persons to join the Land League and subscribe money thereto. A Dublin gentleman who has a few acres of land on the borders of this county, has received a letter, warning bim that he must join the Land League before Saturday, or take the consequences! The most recent development in Boycotting is in the country towns, where the shop keepers, and even pedlars, are required to produce tickets showing that they are members of the League or they will not buy or sell. Even Orangemen in some places are obliged to join the League or lose their business, property or lives. The organization becomes really more perfect in its minute details. The-accumulation of arms in the country is regarded with much apprehension. One house here supplies 250 revolvers weekly to different parts of the country.—Crowds of people were col- lected at the corners of the streets to wit- ness the entry of the first battalion of the Coldstream Gnards into Dublin to-day, but there was no manifestation of feeling. —- Mr. Ciare Sewell Read, who went to America recently to enquire into American agriculture, in addressing the Farmers Club in London, said he would not fear American competition in wheat twenty five years hence as exhaustion of land would ensue in that time, and the cost of production would increase.» But in regard to beef, there were serious prospects of competition from the vast herds of cattle in the tac West. There was an immense Land League demonstration at Waterford yesterday. Mr. Parnell was presented with an address of welcome by the Corporation. The proces- sion, which included various societies with horsemen, escorted Mr. Parnell to the place of meeting. Houses and shops were decorated with flags and the streets triumphantly arche:!. Four hundred police, 200 infantry and 100 cavalry were drafted for the town. The speeches were of the usual character.
