Kicxep sy a Horse.—A four-year-o'd of Mr. J-A Collett, of South Shore, Bedeque, was very severely kicked bv a horse on Friday evening. The little fellow had wandered out alone, and nothing was known of the accident until a neighber found him lying with his head badly cut, and partly unconscious. It is thought that he will recover, althongh the extent of the injury bas not yet been azcertained.

Porice Court.—This forenoon Alexan- der Turnbul!! was fined $8 or 40 days for assaulting Morton Harrington. It seems that Turnball met Harrington on the street and asked him for money to get @ drink. Harrington said he had no money to give him, whereupon Turnbull struck him and knocked him down.

William Forrest, for assaulting Jean B. A. Paguette, was fined $1 and costs. While Forrest was intoxicated he visited Paqueite’s boarding house, and after in- dulging in some abusive language struck him with his fist in the face.

George O’Connor was arraigned on com- plaint of John Joseph Hogan for assault and battery. John Joseph swore that whilst he was looking about for some work he wag met by O’Connor, who accu-ed him of voting grit. This was the begin- ping of the trouble which culminated in O’Connor striking Hogan several times. A fine of $2 or 10 days was imposed.

Two men for riding bicyeles on the sidewalk between A. L. Brown’s corner and the railway crossing on St. Peter’s Road, were each fined $2 without costs. We are informed that a good many wheel- men make a@ practice of using this terri- tory for @ riding-ground, and unless they

The Halifax Chronicle saye: “M. L. King, an ex-Haligonian now residing at North Attleboro, Mass., is coming home this month. He will enter any bicycle races that are held carnival week.” Our impression is that Mr. King is a Prince Edward I=land bey.

The route of the C. W. A. road race on Monday evening next will be from Hovs- ton’s Hetel, via the Brackley Point Road, finishing st or near the Prince Edward Island Hospital.

The Turf.

The midsummer race meeting at Sum merside will take place on the 17th inst. The programme will include 2.29, 238 and 3-minute glasses, mixed, and a green race. The purses aggregate $300.

The opening meeting on Shediac driving park will be held on Tuesday neat. From this province Lawndomniec and Montrose are entered in the 2.29 class, Beau Prince in the 2.3% class and Gay Pilot in the 3 minute class.

The stud of the late Baron de Hirsh was sold at auction at Newmarket. The sale realized a total of 44,870 guineas. The bay mare La Fleche, by St. Simon, out of Quiver, the winner of the Oaks and One Thousand Guinea Stakes in 1892, was sold for 12,000—over $65,000.

A St. John Gazette reporter visited the race track at Amherst a few days ago and saw the horses of Messrs. Lamy and Etter worked out. Mr. Louis Cox was seated behind W. S. McKie’s four year old stal- lion Kickapoo by Preceptor. This young- ster was driven a fast mile alongside of an. ther horse and finished cff the last quarter in 364 seconds. The handsome golden chestnut Provider, by Preceptor, was driven a full mile io. 2.34, and went the last quarter in 36 seconds. Provider was driven by Mr. Cox and is owned by W.S. McKie, of Charlottetown.

Yachting,

A yecht race on Charlottetown harbor is being “‘talked up.” It is hoped that it will end in something more than talk.

Cherles Day Rose, owner of the raciag yacht Satanita, hae ordered J. G. Fay & Son, at Southampton, to build a yacht to beat the German emperor’s new cutter Meteor and the Prixce cf Wales’ yacht Britannia. The boat is to be conetruected after special designs.

Athletic

Parmenas McLecd, of Georgetown, was a successful competitor at the Dominion Day sports in Pictou. He took prizes for high aod troad jumping, hop, step and leap, and: pole vaulting. Mr. McLeod isa Prince of Wales boy.
