A NARROW ESCAPE.

To the Editor of the Examiner.

Str,—Mr. John McDonald (Kinlock) of this place, had his dwelling house lately destroyed by fire. On Sabbath morning, 15th inst., between two and three o’clock the parents were awakened by the screams of the children who were sleeping down stairs, adjoining the kitchen, were the fice originated. Mr. McDonald, and a young man who was living with him, jump- ed out of the upper window and had much difienlty in saving Mrs. McDonald who was confused in the smoke. They ran immediately to the window of the room down stairs where thelittle: ones were smothering with smoke, and by breaking the wiudow rescued them. The whole family were obliged to walk to the barn through snow and frost, and remained there some hours until Mr. Nelson from the opposite side of the river ran over and gave the alarm. Mr. McDonald’s feet are badly frozen, as he remained about the burning building thinking to save some- thing, but did not succeed in doing so. They barely escaped with their lives.
