A whole chapter of Birchers in Franklin, Tenn., disbanded last year after five months. An ex- member said: ‘‘We found there difference between Welch's opinions and our own, and we got out.”

On the whole, however, the bigger groups claim they are gaining members and this may be a fact. Observers disagree as to whether the movement has reached its high-water mark.

Angling Expert Dies In New York

NEW YORK (CP) — Preston J. Jennings, 69, an authority and writer on angling, died here after collapsing on his | way to a theatre.

The Virginia-born New Yorker served with the British forces in the First -World War before be- ginning many years of study of the art of angling. ~

In 1935 Jennings published “a book of trout flies,” des- cribed as a “top standard for fly fishermen’ by New York Herald Tribune columnist Ed- mund Gilligan. The book has since been reissued.
