The year-old Preceptor filly, owned by John Cameron, Royalty, was bought by Ailan Stewart, of this city, for $168 in all, about twenty and the number of carrisges were disposed of.

Cuancep Hanps.—We understand that Mr. Henry Trainor, of Baldwin’s Road, has sold his trotting stallion True Blue, for a handsome sum, to parties in eastern King’s County. the principal of which is Mr. Andrew Mooney, of Little Harbor. It weuld be advisable for farmers and jovers of the turf in that section of the Province to avail themselves of the services of that lnable horse. True Blue is sired by Dean record 2.56, and is a brother to Island Chief and H. B Gordon. A 3-year-old brother of True Blue’s took first honors in the show-ring at Summerside, and his sister, Mr. Lee’s Dean Swift filly, took first honors at the gaine place. Another brother owned in Chatham, N. B., beat the 3-year-old’s on the Newcastle Park last fall. -_

Tue Late Perer McLaucnutan.—The remains of the late Mr. Peter McLauchlan were removed from the P. E. 1. Hoapital at 2.45 this afternoon, and conveyed to the steamer W. H. Aitken, by which they were conveyed to his mother’s home at West River. A large number of Odd- fellows assembled at the Lodge Room at 2 o'clock, and accompanied by the Citizens’ Band, marched to the place where lay all that was mortal of their late loved brother. The impressive funeral service was con- ducted by Rev. Brother Fred. E J. Lloyd, Chaplain of St. Lawrence Lodge. A delegation from Wildey Lodge accompanied the body to the family residence where it will remain until to-morrow afternoon at i o'clock, when the burjal takes place at the cemetery at Canoe Cove. A number of Oddfellows will attend the obsequies. tev. W. W. Brewer, Chaplain of Wildey Lodge, will officiate at the grave.

Last evening Mr. James MclIsaac, of the Herald, closed the series of lectures deliver- ed this season under the auspices of the League of the Cross, St. Patrick’s Hall was filled with an intelligent aydience, eager to hear the learned lecturer, and the rapt attention with which they followed him throughout proves more clearly than words the excellence of the lecture. His subject was ‘‘Sir Thomas More,” Lord High Chancellor of England in the reign of Henry VIII. He began with his boyhood, followed him through all the phases of his} chequered career, until a victim of the King’s wrath he fell a martyrto the cause

of right. His description of Sir Thomas More’s last moments was extremely pathetic. The audience, inspired by the

burning words of the lecturer, ‘was led in spirit to the scene of his last suffering, where they were shown Sir Thomas More old and decrepit, sacrificing home, friends and all earihly ties rather thaa make a shipwreck of his conscience. At the close of the lecture complimentary remarks were made by Messrs. Roche, D. OM. Reddin, Jr., J. H. Reddin, anda vote of thanks, propased by Rev. Gregory McDonald and seconded by Rev. J. C McMillan, was accorded the lecturer, to which he suitably responded.
