MIBLWIAUKEE (AP) — Strong— armed Bob Turley led the revived New York Yankees to the great- est ‘baseball comeback in 33 years Thursday as they stormed back from a 3-1 deficit. to detzhrone Mil— Waukee Braves in the seventh game of the world series.
Turley, w ork i n g his, third straight game, dazzled the Braves with a tWo-hit relief job for 6 2-3 innings while the Yanks clubbed Lew Burdette for a 6-2 victory.
It was sweet revenge for the Yanks, three-time losers to Bur- dette a year ago, as they got four runs in the eighth inning, break- ing a 2—2 tie.
Burdette had yielded two un- earned runs in the second after the Braves 90ch first off shaky Don Larsen. They tied the score on Del Crandall’s homer off Tur- ley in the sixth. r

eighth with a long double to right by Yogi Berra that missed being

The drive bounced off a padding high on the right field barrier.
Elston Howard fouled off one pitch and looked at a ball before he bounced a single over second base. Berra hustled home with the big winning run. .
Anndy Garey, hitless in 111 trips, smashed a single off Eddie Math- ews’ glove into short left before Bill Skowron hammered a 2-2 pitch far over the fence in left centre field for a ilfilfoot, three- run homer.

The man who was yelling the most was Casey Sten- gel whose seventh world series victory ties him with Joe Mc- Carthy for the most of all time.
It was the greatest comeback in baseball since the 1925 Pitts- burgh Pirates, after losing three
out of four to Washington, took

The Yankees were given up for dead after they lost the first two games in Milwaukee.
Fans were saying this might have been the worst Yankee club ever to win an American League pennant.

In Wednesday’s sixth game, Turley had to come from the bullpen to bail out Ryne Duren. when the iastlball pitcher fallered' in the 10th inning. It was Turley who got the last out, Frank Torre on a fly ball to Gil McDougald.
Turley was in the bullpen Thurs day, with all the Yankee pitchers excerpt Larsen, when the final game started.
The win meant about $3,000 to each Yankee. A winning cut will come to about $9,000 and a losing slice will be about $6,000.

utterances.
WELL, THE YANKEES as we had predicted came off the
floor in really dramatic tashion
and won themselves what was
probably the greatest championship ever won by a Yankee club. They were the first team in 33 years to come from behind a 3-1 deficit and go on to annex the baseball championship of the world. They did what the experts said (only four days ago) they couldn’t do and to do it they were forced to win those final two games in the home ball (park 0f the defending champions.

were presenting. Earlier in this classic, the Yankees had looked really horrible on the defence, but they woke up just in time to find (the Braves had fallen asleep. Spahn lost .a really tough one because Billy Bruton allowed Howard’s single to get by him in the sixth game, allowing Mantle to take third and eventually tie up the ball game on Berra’s fly to centre. Larsen staggered through the first inning, lucky to escape with only one Milwaukee run. Schoen- dienst singled and Billy Bruton walked. After Frank Torre sacri- ficed, Larsen walked Hank Aaron. The bases were. loaded with only one out. And the 46,367 fans ex- pected another Milwaukee cinch victory.
When Wes Covington grounded sharply to Showron, the Yankee first sacker had no chance to out down Schoendienst at the plate. He was fortunate to make the play on Cov-ington for the second out.
Stengel ordered Eddie Mathews walked intentionally loading the bases again. Larsen steadied and caught Crandall looking at a third strike. It was Crandall's 10th Strikeout of the series, only one behind Mathews’ all-time record.
Burdette could not be blamed for any of the second-inning hor- ror. First baseman Torre messed things up all by himself.
TWO BAD PLAYS
Berra walked and Elston Ho:- ard dumped a sacrifice hunt to- ward first. Torre picked it up and
threw behind Burdette who was covering first. Berra went all the way to third.
Up came Jerry Lumpe to slam a ground ball at Torre. The first baseman looked at the plate, fear- ing Berra might try to score, and then threw wildly to first, plunk- ing Lumpe. The bases were load- ed wit‘h nobody out.
Berra scored while Skowron forced Lumpe and Ku-bek’s sacri- fice fly was deep enough to bring home Howard who advanced on Sikowron‘s play. In fact it was so deep, that the throw went to sec- ond base instead of the plate.
Stengel had to get Larsen out in the third. Burton singled and after one man was retired, Alaron singled. Turler chine in and escaped this most serious threat by getting Covington on a short roller in front of the plate. Again the I orders came to pass Mat- thews. loading the bases to got at Crandall.
The Milwaukee catcher rammed a hard drive back to the box that Turley deflected oflf his glove to McDougald. Gil made a brilliant play to nip Crandall for the out.

It was the Yanks‘ 18th victory in 24 series and their seventh in nine with Stengel at the helm. Mc- Carthy had won seven, too, while losing two—one with the Yanks and one with the Chicago Cubs. Nobody has won eight.
The American League victory in this 55th series gives it a 35-20 edge over the National.
Before the 1925 Pirates staged their comeback under Bill Me- Kechnie against Bucky Harris’ Senators; one other. [team had bounced back from 3-1. That was the 1903 Boston Red Sox in the days of the best-ofqnine series. The Red Sox trailed 3~1 and then won four in a row from Pitts- burgh in the first world series.

Midget Wrestlers Put On Great Performance At Arena

witnessyed a great performance by the midget wrestlers at the local Sports Arena last evening. It was a tag team match with Little Beaver and Tiny Tim tak- ing on Fuzzy Cupid and Irish Jackie. . Tiny Tim and Little Beaver were awarded the match by virtue of their winning the first and third falls.
These little fellows were real- ly hilarious and had the fans in attedance roaring at their antics throughout the match. I
The opening match saw Tony Baillargeon and Ali Pasha bat- tling each other. All Pasha won
the first fall with the Boston Crab. In the second fall Tony Baillargeon had it all over his opponent and ~won the fall with a series of dropkicks. Pasha was the villain and used all the dirty tricks he could think of to better Baillargeon. He pulled hair, trunks, rubbed something in Tony’s eys to blind him momentarily and tried to rub his beard across his eyes. He was disqualified on the third fall for rubbing something across Baillargeon’ eyes and then turning doing the same thing to the referee twice. The second time the referee dis- qualified him and awarded the match to Baillargeon.

It is now apparent that the 1958 hunting season will go down on record as the year in whch the almost total collapse of game law observance took place. In a few districts, due to advance precau- tions by local sportsmen, hunt- ing conditions were normal in comparison with former seasons. Nine out of ten sportsmen who have approached me regarding
their opening day experiences
have complained bitterly over events that took place weeks,
and in some instances over a month, in advance of the open— ing date. In a number of instan— ces their blinds, painstakingly constructed weeks in advance of October lst, were found to have been occupied. previously as the empty shell cases and duck fea- thers testified.
