The Heroine of the Campaign.

Political feeling evidently ran high in Nova Scotia during the recent campaign. The Annapolis Spectator says :

‘Mrs. Lew Saunders, of Middleton, is the heroine of the campaign. The scene at the polling booth, as the plucky little woman drove up at a 2.40 rate, closely followed by two tcams of grits, who were determined to recapture him, reminds us of the days of Grace Darling. How can a cause which has such defenders help being success§ ful? The Liberal Conservatives of Annapolis County owe her a vote of thanks, Mrs. Saunders isa daughter of Inglis Phinney of Middleton.

An Enoch Arden case recently came to light in the quiet village of Terrebonne, Quebec. it appears that about fifteen years ago a young married man named Berthaume left that place to seek his fortune in California, intending to send or return for his wife when his means would permit, Time passed away, and at the end of one year the woman received a letter from the west informing her that her husband was dead. The poor woman lived as best she could for a year or two, and then got married again to one of the most prominent merchants of the village, and they have since lived very happily together. The other day, to the great surprise of all the village, Berthaume, who had been long since mourned as dead, put in an appearance, and claimed his wife. The village cure was appealed to for a decision, and he decided that the woman must live with her first husband.
