Annual Meeting Y’s Men ’s Club

. The third annual meeting of the Charlottetown Y's Men's Club was held in the Y. M. C. A. at 6 n. m. Thursday evening. President Cleaver Mlwhean occupied the chair, reading his ual report in which he reviewed the salient fea- tures 0d the past tenn, commencing with the Club acting as Banta Pals last Christmas and other activities during the earlier part oi the year. The club rendered great assistance during the Y. M. C. A. drive this spring by putting several teams in the field and by a wutrlbution of $200

The club picnic was the next ieatin-e of special interest and was held at Canoe Cove on Jilly 9th. proving a great success.

A bridge and dance held by the Club and a rummose sale in No- highly syooessful

Tugs and Dredge Laid Up

The two Government tugs, name_ 1y the Lisgar, Capt. Gamble, and Rona. Capt. Belyea. are being laid up in this port ior the winter months.

The tugLisgar. Capt. Gamble, has been engaged this summer ingat- ‘ending to D. P. W. Dredge No. 115, Capt. MacLeod, which was later towed to l-lawkesbury. Before her departure she had been doing some work dredging out the Railway dock Bruce Stewart's dock and Ferry dock, making water enough to _ac- comodste any oi the large steamers which have called.

'I'he we Rona. Capt. Belyea which has been engaged in attending to D. P. W. Dredge No. 9, Capt. Gal- lant. in different parts oi the Is- land. is at present irrPictou, N. 8., where it is understoodshe will re- main for the winter and will also go on the Marine slip there.

The B. S. Hochelaga, Capt. Trav- is. arrived in l-laliiax where it is not certain whether she will be put into survey work ior the winter or laid up.

Compulsory Inspection

The case for compulsory inspec- tion was presented by O. E. Galla- gher, oi Bath; C. E. Hideout, of‘ Hartland, and Coun. Greenlaw, of Millville. It was stated that the pre- sent cost of inspection was $4 per

the cost for 10,000 cars-the annual expel-table production in New Brunswick-would probably be re- duced to $3 per car. There was a suggestion that only licensed ship- pers should be permitted ioexport agricultural products from New Brunswick and it was stated that the’ potato growers and farmers oi the province generally now realized that compulsory inspection was necessary.
