Rember last Easter? It was a time not of Happi ness but of dissatisfact ion and contempt for the government of P.E.I.The people lost their rights:

It hid all started, rather innocently. A group of young Charlott etown men indicated thly. would stage an Easter Weekend Rock Festival ‘7 in Charlottetown,an unfl dertaking not unsusal to most provinces in Canada. But almost im-

mediatly a wave of prot est opposing the propos ed festival arose,Village ccmmisionors, conberned citizens and even members of the clergy backed

the protest and eventual 1? influenced the govern ment to pass an act to prohibit the festival

and any of its kind which may take place in the future.

Well a bill was pass ed-- rather huridly as Isua1-- but this-time the bill not only for bade all rock festival in P.E.I. but also any public ;gatherings!l

Demonstrations followed and Gordie Bennett' and Alex Camp bell were put on the public Hot Seat. Sweat- ing profusidly, Prime- minister Campbell decid ed that because there was so much opposition to the bill, he should

remove it from the books.

He promised the opposit ion and the people of P.E.I. that he would do so in the fall sesion of the_legislature.

Dr. George Dewar asked Prem- ier Campbell if the .Public Order Act was to be rescinded during the question period at the inital sitting of the tall session of the house Teusday November 5. Premier Campbell said that a report by a comp mittee headed by Mr. John P. Nicholson has

‘been in the hands of the, provincial government for about two and one

half weeks and that

legislation pertinent to the report is now» being drafted by the

Department of Justice which of course is Gordie Bennett's de-. partment.(It looks like he is still go- ing to have his way Carter all.)

Mr. Campbell said that the Nicholson Report will be tabled when the legislation is introduced.

Apparently, Prime Minister Campbell thinks the people of P.E.I. are imbiciles and that he can con- tinue to pull the wool of gov't policies over the people who put him in office. It makes one wonder what the govern- ‘ .ment intends to do with

the rest of the prom- ises for the future.
