Apr. 2 to May 9 - The Bird Studies Canada Nocturnal Owl Surveys held in conjunction with the RBI. Department of Environment and Energy’s Conservation and Management Division and volunteer participants will be held along designated routes across Prince Edward Island. Apr. 4 to 10 - National Wildlife Week’s theme for 2004 is “Give backyard birds something to sing about!”
Apr. 6 - The Natural History Society’s regular meeting will feature the fourth part of the bird identification course with Eric Marcum showing the slide presentation Songbirds 1: Warblers, Vireos, & Thrushes.
Apr. 16 - The Island Nature Trust’s 20‘“ Annual Fund Raising Dinner will be held at the Delta Prince Edward in Charlottetown. Contact the Trust at 566-9150 to order tickets.
May 2 to 8 - “Canada’s Forests, A fine balance” is the theme for the 2004 National Forest Week program.
May 3 to 24 - The University of Prince Edward Island’s Biology Department will be offering a Special Studies Course on Watershed Management featuring a combination of special presentations and field trips on applied watershed management. For further information, contact U.P.E.I.’s web site.
May 4 - The Natural History Society’s regular meeting will feature Dan McAskill on the Night Sounds of the Island, an audio presentation and slides of various night animals. YN
May 6 - Island Nature Trust’s Annual General Meeting at Carriage House at Beaconsfield on West Street in Charlottetown. The meeting starts at 7 pm

May 15 to 22 - Arbour Week will celebrate tree and shrub plantings at a variety of schools participating in the Greening Spaces program. For more information contact the J. Frank Gaudet Nursery at 368-4711.
May 15 - Giving Trees, Giving Hope Fund Raising Initiative by the Canadian Breast Cancer Network in conjunction with the Provincial Forest Section of the P.E.I. Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, Aquaculture and Forestry. The event will be held at the St. Patrick’s Road Provincial Forest near Peake’s Station running from 9 am to 12 noon. It will feature an early bird presentation on Native Plants and Wildlife starting at 8 am and, throughout the morning, technical presentations on native plant establishment and care will follow . Native tree seedlings and shrubs will be available. For more information and maps to the site and presentation location please contact the Eastern Forestry District at 961-7296 and posters.
