Our second semester, large group meetings began last Tues- day night. At this meeting we heard from Shelley Barrett and Richard Arsenault who reported on their post—Christmas trip to the National Student Leaders Conference, held this year in Montreal. They learned many new and exciting things that they will be sharing with the group this year. We also heard from Clyde Bryan who attended the International Christmas held at Mount Allison.
At last weeks meeting we de- cided to change the meetings to
Friday nights at 6:30pm. That means that our next meeting will
‘be Friday, January 20.
The title of this meeting is:
“What Are You Doing For Your Campus”
and the speaker will be Mr. Vernon Vickruck. Vernon will be talking about the role of Chris- tians on campus.
Why not come out to the meeting this week and hear what he has to say. At the same time you can find out about the Mala- gash and Bible and Life weekends and about all of the other exciting things going on with IVCF this semester.
Psychology Club
Greetings all Psychology stu- dents.. We have been doing a lot of fun stuff in the Psychol- ogy Department lately. The Psy- chology Club has planned several things for the coming weeks, and we hope to see a lot of interest on the part of all those budding psy- chology enthusiasts. Among the planned events are the following:
1) This Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Psychology Lounge, we are having a Triv- ial Pursuit/Balderdash Tourna- ment. Anybody who enjoys the
thrill of victory or the agony of |
defeat (masochists welcome) are invited to attend. The afternoon 's B.Y.0.R. (bring your own re- 'nforcements).
2) Next Friday, February 3rd, We will be having a get-together et Mother’s Restaurant. The time for socializing is 1:30 in the Piternoon, hopefully .when most
asses are finished. So, come for -

3) On a more serious note, a fund is being set up to accept do- nations in memory of Professor Gerald Perry, who passed away earlier this month. All monies collected will be donated to the UPEI Memorial Bursary Fund in Professor Perry’s memor-. Eileen Blanchard, the Psychology secre- tary, will be accepting donations, as will Sandra Weldon, club pres- ident, and Celine Pinsent, Club treasurer.
4) Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming announcements con- cerning the UPEI Psychology t- shirts and sweatshirts.
5) The next meeting of the Psychology Club will be on Mon- day, February 6, at 3:00 p.m. Some topics will be t-shirts and flea market participation. Fur- ther announcements about other

Marian Hall
The Pit Bulls opened the sec- ond half of the intramural hockey season inauspiciously, with a 6— 1 loss versus the Rulers. Marian Hall’s only bright spots in the de- feat were Brain McCollough, who scored the goal; Kent Ronahan, who guarded the goal against an onslaught of Ruler shots;
and Scotty Gallant, whose bone- crushing bodychecks set more
than one Ruler on their backs.
The following evening the Dogs regrouped, however, to post
a resounding 5-2 victory over the
Alumni team. This game marked
the return of Bert “The Fish”
Ronahan to the Marian Hall goal. thereby freeing the other Rona- hans, Kent and Mark, to score goals. Phil “Flipper” Coulton, Tony “The Weasel” MacKenzie, and Chad “Chess Boy” Bertt also
added goals for Marian. Pit Bulls coach Don “Won” Gun- ning, who orchestrated the vic-
tory, agreed that his team’s new European-style of play, though radical, should prove effective in the coming weeks.
On Wednesday, January 11, the Pit Bulls administration sadly announced the departure of scoring aces Gino “The Flying Frenchman” Cormier and Jason “Kordic” Pinkson from the orga- nization. Cormier signed a lucra-
tive four-year contract with the French National B-team. Pink- son will be toiling with the Wabrush Walruses of the North Pole Senior Hockey league as a highly regarded goon. Both Cormier’s number 44 and Pink- son’s 00 were retired by the Pit Bulls in a small but dignified cer- emony that was closed to the me-
National Engineering Week
This week is National Engi- neering week. This is the week when Engineering societies from across Canada celebrate their ex- istence by doirg works of commu- nity service. This is the first year that the UPEI Engineering Soci- ety has ever participated in this national event. They plan to do their part by taking part in a food drive this week.
On Tuesday they will have visited houses in the Charlotte- town area between the hours of 3:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M., then on Thursday they will have caught the outlying areas during the same hours. All food collected will be donated to the Upper Room, which provides food for
those people who for some rea-
son or other are not able to buy their own. If you were not caught by the drive, you can still makea donation of food directly to this non-profit organization.
Other universities are doing similar acts of good will for their local communities. TUNS, Dal- housie, and SMU will spend the week building a ‘safe playground for the local children who at present have no other place like

tribute to the elders of their com- munity by visiting a local retire- ment home. They hope to show these people that they have not been forgotten, that they are still an important part of the commu-

raise money for a local charity by selling chocolate bars, and UNB will follow the suit of its sister so- ciety and hold-a food drive for the local soup kitchen. This is only a small example what uni- versities from across Canada will be doing to help support local charities and other organizations whose work is not often recog- nized.
In all, thirty-three of the thirty-nine Engineering Univer- sities in the twenty-one year old Canadian Congress of Engi- neering Students or CCES are taking part in this worthwhile event.Perhaps people will now think of Engineers as more than just people who know how to
party.
