great big Buster Bear for the first time. Just seeing him gave them little shivers of cxcitment and fear. Moihcr had told them that there was nothing to be af- raid of if they keep out or reach or Buster Bear: that he wouldn't

waste his time trying to catch them by chasing them. for he know that a Deer's legs

are better for iunning than are the legs oi any Bear. But his great size. his riimbly grunibly voice, his big teeth. and his great claws filled them with fear that would stay with them always.

Until they saw Buster Bear, their father. Lightfoot. was the biggest person they had ever seen. Every time they looked at him their eyes shone with admiration. They were sure that he couldn't possibly be afraid of anyone. They said this to each other. When he was around they kept at a res- pectable distance, but they fol-

lowed him about whenever they could. This evening as they watched Buster Bear. they won-

dered what would happen it he should mcel. Buster Scar.

But Lighllnol uasifli armind just. then and they soon forgot about him as they watched Buster Bear. He had just tried to rob his much smaller cousin. Bobby Coon. ofa iish. Now Buster was slowly shuffling along at the edge of the water in their direction.
