Balanger, of Port Townsend, Oregon, has brought a suit for $100,000 damages for alleged breach of promise of marriage agsinst Charles Craswe!l, a wealthy resident of New Bruns- wick. Craswell has extensive land interests in Oregon, Washington, California and British Columbia, This case was referred to in the papers some time ago. The defendant's name was then given as Robert H. Craswell, and it was said he was a native and resident of Prince Edward Island. Tte woman is a French Canadian, and alleges that the engage- ment of marrisge was made at Montreal seven years ago,

The German consul at Csiro is here, having been summoned home for the pur- pose of receiving instructions as to the ttitude he shall adopt at the international sanitary conference to be held shortly in Vienna.
