the bus as his oWn privaye dictatorship. The song could easily have been an Alice Cooper classic. I'Under My Hat” is a haunting piece Featuring sharp licks and a great melody and hook.« Dwayne Fordd's micromoog is put to good use on this cut as well. "

Goddo is a three-piece band led by Greg Godovitz, the former bass player for Fludd. He was a member of Fludd for that band's only fistandout album, ...0n, in l972. Godovitz is turning in a completely new mus- .ical direction with his own band, taking a stance opposite to what Fludd have always stood for.

Whereas Fludd were mainly influenced by the British groups, Goddo's obvious influences are from American bands such as Alice Cooper and Ted Nugent. Whereas Fludd tried every theme from easy listening to rock. to country, Goddo is basically a rock 'n roll

Goddo has only one problem and that is achiev- ing some exposure. A'tour with a major group could turn the trick. Watch out for Goddo. They're moving- “on an uphill ride”.

~it. Moxy have begun to live

up to the promiSe they showed on their debut album of two years ago. That first album was a classic as far

as Canadian rock albums go, and long was a fixtUre on my

turntable. Moxy II was dis- appointing in that much of the record sounded like sec- ond rate Aerosmith or Nazer- eth.. The main fault for that was producer Jack Doug- las, who also handles the controls for Aerosmith. But on Ridin' High the diStinc- tive Moxy rockers are back. From the opening lead break, (which occurs about three seconfs into.the album), Moxy are assuring everyone that this will be their own album, and not the producers.

Musical proficiency is never a question on a Moxy album, and Ridin' High is no exception. Moxy's strongest point is the vocal perform- ance turned in my Buzz Shearman. He has one of those raspy voices a la Rod Stew- art and Geddy Lee. The fact that he has twice the range and power of either of those

.two is what distinguishes

Shearman as one of the most effective vocalists in rock. Check out Moxy, Canadals

: heavy metal contenders.

(****) KNOCK 'EM DEAD KID -TROOPER (MCA RECORDS)

This is the third release by Trooper, and their most successful to date,its success contributed to many factors. The first is that this is the best music the _band has produced , from- the reggae hit “We're Here \ Fer A Good Time” to the blasting rock title cut. Most impressive however, are “Waitin’ On Your Love” and "Most Of The Country”, ‘ both new directions for the. group. “Waitin‘” is someWhat similar in style to 302 ‘ Scaggs, while “Most Of The‘ Country” is>a moving ballad, that shows another, more‘. sensitive side to the vocal capabilities of Ra McQuire.‘ Throw Ln.an organ sounding much like Procul Harum and you have the new improved

The only possible draw- back concerning Trooper is that they are said to be disappointing live. We'll see for ourselves tonight (September 29) as they a-- ppear with Moxy in Char' lottetown.

After Work with Charlee, Michael Pagliaro, and Na- nette Workman, amoung others, Walter Rossi is now stepping out as,a solo artist. His one major prob- lem is that the music here is poor and most of the songs are too easily forgetable. The only exception is “Chas- ing Rainbows”, which shifts nicely from soft to hard rock numerous times in the

\ course of the song.

Walter Rossi is a tal- ; ented guitarist, so maybe playing for other peOple who are more accomplished writers is where he should remain. Avoid Mr. Rossi, at least this time out.
