Mr. Charles Macwiliiams of west Cape was operated on Wednesday at the Prince County Hospital in Summerside. His many friends wish him a speedy recovery.

Rev. W. G. Dickson left by plane on Monday morning Dec. 18th for Sydney. N. S. called there by the ill- ness of his father who is critically ill. Mrs. Dickson also left by train on Monday for Sydney.

The Knutsford Baptist Woments Missionary society held a very suc- cessful sale of Home Cooking on Saturday afternoon Dec. 16th at Jelly's Dept. store in o'Leary. The sale was well patronized and the lovely articles on display soon found ready purchasers.

--'I'he Canadian Girls In Train- ing of the O'Leary United Church held their Christmas party at the Sunday School room of the church on Friday evening. Dec. 15. The worship service was conducted by Mrs. W. G. Dickson. The room was nicely decorated with bougihs and Christmas ornaments and there was a gaily decorated Christ- mas trce. Games were enjoyed and gifts were exchanged between the members. A treat of candy. fruit and nuts were passed around to the girls and all had a wonder- ful time. 'lihe rest of the evening was spent in practicing for their Christmas Vesper Service which will be held after the regular church service on Sunday. Dec. 24.

The women's Missionary society of the Knutsford Baptist Church met at the home of Mrs. Alex Mac- Dcnald for their December meet- ing. The Scripture was read bY Mrs. C. O. Hewlett. Prayer was of- fered by Mrs. Alex. MacDonald. 'I'he Devotions were led by Mrs. I... G. Dewar entitled "The story of Bethlehem". There was an ex- ercise by four members, "The Mean- ing of Christmas" by Mrs. Arthur Ikirris. "Joy" was taken by Mrs. Ralph Adams; "Love" by Mrs- Arthur I-Iarrls; "Peace" by Mrs. Ai- bert smallman. There was a read- ing by Mrs. Dermot MacLean, "The Road to Bethlehem". Fifteen mem- bers answered the roll call by a verse of Scripture. Prayer was of- fered by Mrs. Nelson Dennis. A White Cross Focd parcel will be sent. to Miss Laura Baln Mission- ary to India.

There -was a splendid congregat- ion on Sunday night Dec. 17 when a "Hymn Festival" was held at the spacious 0'Leary United Church. The Choirs taking part were:- St. Luke's Church of England at 0'I..eary Corner, Mrs. Bam Webb organist; United Baptist of Knots- ford, Mrs. Melvin Ellis. organist; Bloomfield United, Mrs. A.. W. Craswell organist and 0'Leav.-5' United. Mrs. J. M. Macwiiliam. organist. The Minister Rev. W. G. Dickson presided and cordially wel- comed the large congregation and the visiting choirs. The Hymn Fes- tival is a product of a very success- ful School for Organist: and Rural Choirs which was recently held in the O'I.edry United Church by Rev. L. M. Murray of Kensington United Church. Rev. Mr. Dickson conduct- ed the worship service. assisted by Rev. C. O. I-Iowlett.

The West Devon United Church Young People's Union met for their Christmas party on Friday night, Dec. 15. There was a very large attendance as the whole con- gregation was invited including all the boys and girls. The first part of the evening was to have been an evening of films by the Na- tional Film Board with the Com- munity Projector of O'I:eary showing the interesting pictures. However a tube burned out in the projector so the assembly all went to the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Grigg, which was nicely de- corated in keeping with the Christ- mas season and the centre of at- traction was a large and geily de- corated Christmas tree. Farmers Federation, Meets At south Freetown

-The District meeting of the South Freetown and Freetown 1"arniers' Federation met at South Pi-eetown school,with the Presi- dent, Albert stetson, in the chair. After considerable discussion on farm problems, a committee was appointed to bring in resolutions to be discussed.

Two resolutions were passed af- ter considerable discussion. I. Pre- sented by Clayton smith and Ev- erett Bchurman to the P. E. I. Federation that it hold a mass meeting of Federation members in Charlottetown as soon as pos- stble. to discuss our potato prob- isms and other business. " II. A resolution to the Depart- ment of Agriculture to do every- thing possible to urge the Federal Dept. to try and get the Spanish Deal through if at all possible. as the situation among the potato growers here is serious, was brought In by Fred Drummond and Elmer smith.

It was the opinion of the meet- ing that there should be control of potato producti and in favour of controlled acreage. .

The December meeting of the Chelton Women's Institute was en- tertained by Mrs. Earl Pearson with a full attendance. The presid- ent opened the meeting with the "Collect" repeated in unison.
