S'side Firemen Seek Funds From Old Furniture
Tonight at 6 p.m. the Summer- side Firemen will canvass the Town seeking old furniture which they intend to sell by auction to raise money to pay for new uni- forms which they recently pur- chased. The Town has been divid- ed info zones so that it can be cov- cred in short order and nine team captains with trucks pick up the donations.
Major F. J. McIx'eill has given permission for the firemen to hold their auction on the Armoury Square on next Saturday after- noon. The well known auctioneer Mr. Hugh Morrison is giving his services free.
In case of bad weather the sale
will be held in the new Curling Rink. It is many years since the Summerside Firemen have sported new uniforms and since this year Summerside will be the scene of the Maritime Fire Chiefs Conven- tion in July it was thought only proper that the firemen should be properly attired. The firemen raised most of this money last sumiiicr by means of a dance. bingo and horse race. They also received a substantial amount from the Town but they still lack about 5600.
Every citizen realizes the im- portance of the department in Summeiride and it is thought that citizens will back up this ef- fort.-S

Flo. J. Roussell of Montreal. Que., spent the past week at R. C. A. F. Station, Summerside. I-V0. Roussell has been renewing acquain-tances. as he was on the Flying Wing staff of the A.N.S. for two years.
Several personnel from this Unit will visit various sections of Ontario while enjoying annual leave, including: Cpl. H. A. Jenk- ins, who intends visiting Hamil- ton. Ont.; W.O.lI l-libberd who will travel to Bairie. Ont; AC.1 L. J. M. Marshall, who, while on 33 days' leave, will spend it in Brockville, Ont., and AC.2 R. W. Chapman, who will visit Fort William, Ont. Two airmen will travel farther West and will spend portions of annual leave in Robibin, Manitoba and Trochu, Alta., recrpcctively. These are A.C. 2 R. Boyle and LAC. R. J. McNeil. LAC. J. M. Joly of the Station Orderly Room Staff, intends spending eight days an. nual leave at his home in Mont- real. Que. Two airmen will spend their annual leave in Moncion, N. 3.. including LAC. G. J. Westl and LAC. J. I. A. Gautreau. Each of them were introduced by Eotarian Vaughn Groom. chairman of the school patrol
committee and were welcomed by club president Dr. A. A. Lockhart. who thanked them for their fine work during the year. Mr. Groom explained their function which is to stand guard at intersections near the schools during busy per- iods nnd prevent the pupils from crossing when traffic Is approach- ing.
A colored film of Prince Ed- ward Island never before shown publicly was shown by Mr. George Fraser, supervisor of the P. E. I. Publicity and Tourist Depart- ment. Other guests were Rotar- ian Philip Roth of Minnesota and Mr. Roy Phillips of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Mr. Arthur Rogers was the protectionist.
