He denies the charge in toto, claimitug that he never had the goods in his posses- sion, and never was bailee of Wheatley. he difficulty arose out of an agreement ith Wheatley to raise $200 for their mut- sl accommodation. It is claimed that r sold the articles when he had no ght to do so under the warehouse reeeipt.

THe New Catuoric HaLi.—Last night a meeting of St... Dunstan's congregation was held in St. Patrick’s Hall to further consider the new hall matter and to receive the report of the committee appointed at the previous meeting. Ihe committee reported through Councillor Hogan. They recommended that the hall be built on the pilot of land on Water Street donated by His Lordship the Bishop, as it was the best available site, and submitt- ed a plan of the building it is propored to erect. The plan was made by Philips & Chappe'l. The repert was discussed at some length, the speakers being His Lordship Bishop Macdonald, Rev. D. B. Reid, the Judge of Probate, Councillor Hogan, J. B. Macdonald, Esq, and others. The report will be further considered at another meeting of the congregation to be called by His Lord- ship. A collection was taken up during the meeting and a snug sum was subscribed.
