With I985 being International Year of the Youth. a “Come Together" meeting of youth from around the Island was organized by the UPEI Student Union. Because the majority of the members in the ABS at UPEI are youth, this year has held particular interest for us and Baha’i youth around the world. With the world passing through the most turbulant period in history. stress has run rampant, especially among the youth.
There are two stress related dis- cases, one is passivity which manifests itself in alcohol. drugs. and T.V._addi_ction or the psy- chological surrender of the in-
dividual personality to the norms of the group. Another is frenzied activity; materialistic souls sensing their inner spiritual death and flee- ing into frantic activity. wild amusements. violence and ter- rorism. Unfortunately. there is no where to go to avoid this.
In coping with stress, the most powerful agent is to have a sense of purpose. For Baha'i youth the mis- sion is to accomplish the spiritualization of our lives so that we may stop warring with ourselves which will. in turn. enable us to work effectively for the progress of mankind and the unification of our planet. This spiritualization may be likened to
