gifted with four score years and ten of mental and physical health. One who was so bloat, was the late Samuel Durant’ whose death occurred st the home of his son Heath at Margate on May 29th. I947, at the ripe age of 91 years. He was born at New London, and moved with his parents to Mar- gate at l-ti early age. He was an- gaged in farming, until only a few years ago. when he was forc- ed to leave the labor to other Jtands.

Until his last brief Illness he was able with his retentive mem- ory to recount many an episode of bygone days, and visitors found his conversation both enlighten- ing and entertaining. Hits marriage .10 years ago to Zetille Tuplin war the first wedding to take place in St. Thomas’ Church, New Lon- ldon. Six children were born of the ‘union. Two sons survive, Heath. ‘at. Margate. and Harry, at. Tro- lchu. Alberta. Four daughters. Ann (Mrs. Holbrook) Jane (Mn. White- Lcad) ‘Lottie. Mrs. Ferraboschl, and Ruth, Mrs. Clark. all died before their father and their mother who, passed away about three years ago.

’I‘he funeral service was held at St. Thomas’ Church and cemetery. on Saturday and was conducted by Reverend D. E. Noel. The pali- bearers were: Messrs. Heath May- i-ew. ROY Thompson. George Msy- hew. E. T. Clydon, John Johnston and Hensley Cameron.

Many beautiful floral tributes testified to the esteem in which the late Mr. Durant was held.
