While there they will take part in the same exercises and the same studies as all the other students, and will be addressed, not as “Your Royal Higness,” but simply as “Prince William or “Prince Fritz.’ The Emperor has only given one order in regard to them, and that is that they are neverto be addressed as “Thee” or “Thou.” Such familiarity as this he would not allow, evidently thinking that he had done quite enough in dispcnsing with the title of “Your Highness.”

Loxvox, June 3.— A special from Shanghai says that the German officers who were left to drill the Chinese army have been subjected for some time to in~ dignities and outra; ge in the hope of fore~ ing them to rsiga. Ree ently two of the Germans were beaten by the soldiers and now an Officer named Kruss hae been murdered by the body guard of Lin Kun Yah, the vie roy of Nankin. Consequetly, it is adi led, the entire German squadron in Chinese waters bas been ordered to Nankio. It is expected that Germany w ll withdraw fifty oflicers now in the Chinese army and insist upon the payment of the whole time of their contract. Another despatch says that the Kausses rebels have defeated the Chinese general, Tung, with terrible slaughter and that the vice- roy of Nankin has ordered the despatch of the German drilled troops to assist in suppressing the rebellion.
