Looking at last years data for the northeastern United States and eastern Canada, the Blue Jay was-the most widespread species, sighted at 94% of feeders. The Dark-eyed Junco was seen at just 90%. Other birds visiting more than three-quarters of all feeders included the American Goldfinch, Downy Woodpecker, Mourning Dove, Black-capped Chickadee, and European Starling.

RED-SHOULDERED HAWK SIGHTED AT GREENWICH by Margaret Mallett

What may be the first sighting of a Red—shouldered Hawk on Prince Edward Island occurred at Greenwich on September lst, 1990. Off the end of the pavement, on a small road leading to the North Shore, David and Eleanor Mary Mitchell of London, England and Eleanor Lowe of Charlottetown observed a Red-shouldered Hawk standing on the road, eating a small animal. They approached slowly to about 15 feet and watched from the car, getting a good view. When the hawk departed it was joined by another hawk which had been nearby, but out of sight. The two hawks flew away together.
