Chief Engineer Large occupied the chair, and the vice chairs were occupied by Captains Hickey, Wonacott, Beer and White. Mr. W. F. Carter was the caterer, and, judging by the excellence of the repast, Mr. Carter is an adept at business although he has had but little ex- perience. When ‘‘ample justice was done,” suitable toasts were drank. The first was **The Queen—God bless her.” Then the
toast of ‘‘The Governor General” was drank and responded to by Hon, D. Laird. Major Irving responded to the toast
of the Lieutenant Governor, and ‘‘The City Council” was responded tv by Coun- cillors Davy, Crabbe and Douse. The health of the Chief Engineer was proposed and heartily drank. The toast of the Committtee’ was enthusiastically @rank, and responded to by Captains Beer, Hickey, Wonacoitt and White. The Press was responded to by Hon. D. Laird, and Mr. P McQuaid, and the Host was proposed by Liew'enant King, of Sil-by company, aud suitably responded to. The toast of the Band of the 82nd Batt. was well received and drank. During the evening firemen Bell and Gardiner, and Masters Strong and Pidgeon contributed to the enjoyment of those present by _ singing spirited songs, and the Band of the 82ad Batt. discoursed sweet music between the toasts, Shortly after midnight the national anthem was played, and the party dispersed in good order.
The Secretary of the Committee, towards the close of the Ginner, read a letter from Donald MacKinnon, Esq., the former Chief of the Department, expressing his regret at not being able to attend, The ex-Chief's health was heartily drank.

Fisheries. On the latter Mr. Cartwright moved the six months’ hoist, which was lost on division.
The House received the repert of the Committee of the Whole in the subsidies to the Provinces resolutions, and Sir Leonard introduced a Bill relating to the same.
The House also received the report on the resolution relating to a public loan, and Sir Leonard introduced a Bui! thereon.
The House considered the various reso lutions reported from the Committee of Supplies, and concurred therein. The Act relating to duties of Justices of the Peace out of sessions, was reid a second time. The Howse then went imto con- currence on the Supplementary Estimates.
