AOSC (Association of Stu-

dent COuncils) is an organ- ization of Student Councils of some 56 universities ac- ross Canada. Their prime interest is student co-op travel throughout Canada and all'over the world at reasonable prices and flex— ible departure dates.

I was fortunate enough to attend the AOSC general annual meeting at the Royal York Hotel, Toronto, on January 25 -‘27, represen— ting the University of P.

Some items that were discussed at the meeting were - the federal govern- ment legislation on Ad- vance Booking Charters (A33 which requires 60—90 days advance booking for charter flights out of Canada: the purchase of a branch of a travel agency in Toronto now operating out of AOSC headquarters in Toronto and giving AOSC some diversity in its operations: and also due to the truly national character of the organiza— tion, the association has, received federal incorpor— ation approval to reflect the national identity.

For the future of travel with AOSC, government reg— ulations mean that stu- dents will not enjoy the price advantage in air far- es that they once held. In

the U.S., for example, youth and student fares are almost obsolete and there is stro- ng speculation that in Can-

ada the same fate Will soon be realized. The AOSC will cater especially to Canad- ian travelling students th— rough their new travel age— ncy and offer tours, group fares and departure dates suitable to the travelling student.

As student travellers, you are free to use other tra- vel agencies for informa- tion and travel arrangemen— ts, but AOSC is still the most reliable travel bureau in the industry. '

AOSC has a regional office in Halifax to serve Maritime university needs and any— one wishing more informati— on on the services offered by AOSC may contact me at the Student Union offices.

Brochures on AOSC tours & charters will be published and advertised as soon as they are received on cam- pus. More detailed informa- tion on restrictions and requirements for AOSC travel will soon be available.
