UPEI Junior Varsity Team BattERS

The UPEI Ladies Junior Var- sity Basketball team won its first game of the year in impressive fashion trouncing Nova Scotia Agricultural College 71-44 Satur- day at Alumni Game.

The Junior Varsity Team was sparked by former Lady Panther Ria Bahadursingh who scored 26 points and shot a sizzling: 88%

‘from the field. lt was obvious that the NSAC teain had never played against a team of this calibre. Ba- hadursingh had 7 steals on the day and forced the Ram Guards into numerous turn overs or trav- elling violations.

The game remained close in the early going with the Rams be- ing able to close the gap at the end of the first half to 9 points. Then to start the second half the Junior Varsity Team switched it’s defense from azone toa straight man to man and it made the dif- ference.

The first three time the Rams brought the ball up the court Ba- hadursingh stole it and flew in for easy lay ups. The entire JV team caught fire in the second half and hit everything the put
