In the race for vearlings J. J. easily outclassed his field, winning with the greatest ease, Tootsie Sloper, second; Gussie Wilkes and Gudrun dividing third and fourth moneys.

The three-year-old race was between two Island horses, Brighton Boy and Hatasu. In the first heat Brighton Boy

by Pilot Jr. in 2.313; Stranger second, Israel third and C. P. R. fourth. In the

second heat Israel was first in 2.32}, Stran- ger second, C. P. R. third and Pilot fourth. Pilot Jr. led throughout, in the third heat, winning in 2.263, with Stranger a very close second and Israel some distance — behind. In the fourth heat Pilot Jr. finished a length ahead of Stranger. But he made along run, be- sides throwing Israel out of his stride by

in 2.25}. In the fifth heat Israel did good work, never lifting his nose, and came in
