A new study by American and Swedish researchers has uncovered a strong link between heart disease and people ‘working‘ at dull, mn-decisionrn'aking jobs. According to findings, too few decis- ions are more dangerous than too many, and mail sorters run a higher risk of heart disease ‘ than corporate executives. '

Other dangerous jobs inclule those where machines dictate the pace, and jobs where workers spend most of their time in contact with the general public.

Researcher Robert Karasek of Columbia University says these jobs are as risky as smoking or high chol- esterol. Workers with the least chance of being bored to death: those in outdoor jobs like-forestry and ;, consenzatioh", skilled mmfessigmalal- .craft‘. , workers like blacksmiths.

The Honourable Albert Fogarty, M.L.A. First Kings, expressed his pleasurevin learning that the Holland College Bus Service from Souris to Charlottetown is now offering to provide a limited number of seats to the general public.

The Bus service runs v. Mon.‘to Fri. with the exception of the Xmas brwak; leaving the Co-op store in Souris at 7:45 am and the Island transit depot in C'town at 3:25pm for a fare of $#.50 per one-way trip. The bus will stop for pick—up or drop-off anywhere along the St. Peters Highway.

Entries were judged on the basis of technical merit, ccmpostion, and reflection of the Island's natural beauty.

A Harvard law professor has a suggestion that may make President Reagan think twice be— fore starting a nuclear war.

Roger Fisher wants to put the codes needed to fire nuclear weapons in a capsule that would be implanted next to the heart of a volunteer. The unlucky person would accompany the president everywhere and would carry a butcher knife.

If the president wanted to fire nuclear weapons, he would first have to kill the volunteer with his own hands.

"He has to look at some- one and realize what an innocent death is," says Fisher. Needless to say, the professor's bright idea has not gained much support among decision- makers.
