Roche, and with his letter of thanks he gent <o the prisoner a copy of the life of Mr. O'Reilly. The book was read by uearty ali the prisoners, and this led to an awakening of interest on their part in the bazaar soon to be held for the benefit of the (PReilly memorial, and they expressed a desire te contribute te it. The warden approved of the plan, and aecordingly three hundred men set aside their weekly allowence of tobacco, which was sold outside, and with the money the materiale which they needed were pur- ehased. Daring the spring and summer Mr
Roche has received at different times many articles showing the skill and industry of these men. There are curious inlaid jewel and work boxes, photograph frames, easels, two beauti- ful models of sculls, hanging baskets and fruit dishes cf interlaced strips of wood, together with oil paintings anc three canes similar to the one already described. These and other contributions will be shown at the fair, which will be opened in April by a public weeting to be abaremed by many prominent men, inciuding Cardinal Gibbons and Senators Sherman and Gorman.
