Ixqcest.—An inquest was held yesterday before Dr. McLeod, coroner, in view of the body ef John Cahill found drowned in Scott's mili pound at Kingston on Monday. The evidence showed that Cahill hid been melan- choly fur some four weeks past, and was last seen alive standing by the side of the pend on Friday last. The verdict of the jury was in effect that Cahill drowned himself while laboring under a fit of temporary insanity.
Back vor Fusscarion.—Five Swedish emigrants, four males and one female, arrived at Halifax the week before last. They remained in the city for one week and then started for Bangor, Me. Upon their arrival at McAdam Junction, the ever- vigilant Yankees, upon ascertaining that their baggage had not been fumigated at Halifax, ordered them back. After their arrival at Halifax their baggage was fumi- gated and they departed Saturday for their destination.

Seweracek ror Scummersipe.—At the jast meeting of the Summerside Town Council, Mr, Hunt brought up the matter of sewerage. He read a letter from Col, Waring in which that gentleman said the cost of a plan and survey would be $560, and after the plan was made the work wi uld not cost more than $30,000 ; indeed if the conditions were as favorable as it was thought they were, the Col. hoped, with a good man in charge, to bring the cost down to about $25,000.

CANADIAN Art at Cuicaco.—The executive commissioner for the World’s Fair has re- ceived information from the secretary of the Royal Canadian Academy to the effect that the academy exhibition, from which pictures will be selected for the Canadian Art Exhibit at the World’s Fair, will be opened in the ) Art Association Gallery, Montreal, on the 28th February, 1893. The gentlemen who have been chosen to form members of the Selecting Committee, appointed by the academy, are; Robert Harris, William Brymoner, Montreal, and H R. Watson, Voon, Ont. Mr. Harris has been selected as one of the Hanging Committee to place the pictures in position in Chicago. Preparations are also being made for an exhibition to be held iu Toronto under the auspices of the Oatario Society of Artists, but the date far this is not yet announced.

The programme was carried out in a very pleasing manner, The children’s chorus was very well rendered, Mrs. Norton sang in her usual captivating style. Miss Millie Palmer is quite an addition to onr soloists and we hope to hear her again in the near future. Messrs. Davison and Cooke were at their very best, both of whom are one always gladtohear. The piano solo by Mies Amy Moore showed good exrecution and altogether was played in an admirable man ner, and Miss May Palmer's selection was very much enjoyed.
