,v Monday: So now they've put Extension where Sociology was, Sociology where English was, English where Mathematics was, MattematiCs where the students were, and Student Services where Extension was. Proponents of this merry-go— round argue that at' least it will get students out of our hair for a while because they won't be able to find anything.

I'm not so sure. I had some trouble finding the washroom today.

Tuesday: Locked myself out of my—office today.

As usual went to Security" to get a spare key. But when I asked the man on duty to supply me, he informed me rather airily that I had blundered into a class in Canadian Studies. It seems that the . person I addressed was a fellow professor, the Security office was nov a classroom with students in it, and that I must go elsewhere for my key.

I went in the direction he pointed and found myself in some sort of pestiferous, evil—smelling warren beneath the Main Annex, the place, I suppose, where they put old professors away to moulder. How I got out I'm' not sure. Altogether a distressing day. *

Wednesday: The girl who said she read my article - MacDonald her name is- sits in the front row every class. ,Such a nice wholesome thing. Not likevthose lollygagging lizards in jeans you see so often these days. She stayed a few minutes after class to enquire about extra reading.

Thursday; Professor X, my arch—rival in the department, came into my office today, ostensibly , to ask the time. Without so much as a by-your—

' leave, he picked one of the books I'm using for my new course off my desk. "Of course you're aware, " he said, smiling in that horrible was of his, "that this work has been totally refuted by later “scholarship? .You must have read Gumpert, I974?" Admittedly, using a text with uncut pages is, a little old—fashioned, but poisoning would be too sweet for such a swine as x. I shall watch what he drinks at Happy Hour tomorrow. "

On behalf of myself, the management of Saga Foods and Mr. Cross, Chairman of the Dining Hall Committee, I wish to express our sincere gratitude to all the students. who attended the open meeting of the Dining Hall Committee on Wednesday, September 23rd. The large attendance (approx, 175), as well as the list of issues which were raised that evening, certainly made it quite clear that there are , particular prqblemswith the present ocupon system of purchasing meals for residence students. ‘ I was most impressed with the manner in which meeting was conducted. The Orderly and systematic approadu which you used in making your points known to the admin' istration is certainly a credit to the student body 'of this institution. You are to be commended for your actions.

I understand that a number of people left the meeting with the distinct impression that little or nothing had been accomplished. This

' was certainly not my

feeling, nor was it the feeling of the Dining

'Hall Committee. I beleive

that as the Weeks progress you will see a difference in the approach to

utilizing the coupons '

issued for the purchase of meals. I also suggest to each and every resident that they have

a very conscientious Dining Hall committee, and the members of this committee are there to represent your views on

a continous basis throughout the remainder of this year. I urge

you not to let an issue become a prdolem, but rather, bring it to their attention, or go directly to the manager, Andy Dean. He will certainly do his best to give you an immediate solution.

I was very pleased with the meeting and thought it was a very positive one. The criti— cisms were cnnstructive

your future help and co—operatiOn, I'm sure that most of the issues which were raised will work out to the satis- faction of both the administration and the residence students. I welcome your cOntinued input into working out the problems which exist around our present meal plan and look forward to hearing from you as the academic year ' progresses.
