This medal is awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated to an outstanding degree qualities of scholarship and leadership within . the University community. Recommendations for this award may be made by any member of the University community to the Awards Committee by 31 March. Winners of the Governor General's Gold and Silver Nedals will not be eligible for this award.

Recommendations and supporting material will be received in this office for onward transmission to the Awards Committee up to Friday, 30 March 1979.

rIhe UPEI fencing 0111) is hosting the 0103 Team Atlantic Tournament 0N March I7 and I8.Po out 145 fencers from New Brunswick,Nova Scotia,and perhaps War foundlandwill meet their counterparts from PEI to determine thewinning 0111') teams in foil,epee,

and sabre.‘Ihis is the first time that such a regim'

al event is taking place on the Island.While most

fencing competitions involve fencing on an individual

basis,the upcoming tournament is one of' the few ,

where competitors form teams of three or four fencers

The competition is being held in the UPEI Gym.

The annualball hockey tournament willbegin March 21 when the entries are due for the tournamentfllhis year the perennial champions,"Business" composed of the hockey team will face stiff competition from the "Bullets",a team made up of just ordinary students.

This year the Bullets are going for speed in their line-up as they have signed the sleek footed Mike Larry — Tokis.Anothe find this year is prcbaa ly the best ball hockey player in Canada,Sockey lac Donals.A team needs just more than quickness so Kevin "ZIPPY" Taylor has been signed tobe the muscle on the team. ‘

There shouldbe many fine teams in this years event so get those entries in to Vince Mllliganby March 2I.Any delay in getting the entries inwill only delay the "Bullets" from getting the trophy they most rightfully deserve.
