According (O private advices from the United Siates capital, very little progress has been made, especially in regard to reciprocity, and muth as Sir Wilfrid ard his colleagues mav long for a trade interchange, there is little or no prospect of securimg it, exc ept | at a tremendous cost to Canada. How ever, if the agony is to be prolonged i summer, it is the Government’s lookout. Should the adjouroment take place antil afier Congress finishes its work on March Sib, it is said in official e¢ rcles here that that Parliament will be im:nediately called together, aod an effort be made to conclude business within two months, as was the case when Sir Jchn Thompson went to Paris in 1893. As a matter of fact, the Government has little or no Parliamentary business to submit, and would be we!] satisfied to get the estimatee through. The Conservative leaders, however, would not likely consent to any such arrangement, except On a positive pledge being given that aoother tession would be held before Par liament is dissolved,
