Island’s Oldest, TOO-Year Homes
This year the Centennial Com-
mittee and the P.E.I. Junior Farmer Federation conducted a contest to find a house built in 1864, and also the oldest house on P.E.I.
These houses had to be lived in and were judged on the rec- ords available and the least changes made since the time they were built.
The oldest farm house was owned G Hooper. Morell, who has records back 140 years. and the judges felt that this house was actually older than that.
Prizes for houses built in 1864 went ' first. Stanley Williams. Bideford, Ellarslie; second, Louis Vessey. York.
