Twenty-three-month-old Brian, son of Mr. and Mn. George Chappoll, 880 Central St.. in Surn- rnb de. suffered a. painful and unfortunate accident at his home on Sunday morning about 11 am.
The ends of the index and mid- dle fingers of his left hand were cut of! almost to the first joint. when his hand became caught be- tween tha belt and pulley of a washing machine that had been converted from gas to electric.
His mother, who was employed each -week day at Smallman's Ltd. was washing clothes for Brian and her two other children, when the little fellow, unknowing to her, came quickly from another room. and placed his fingers on the revolving belt which carried it into the sharp edged pulley. caus- ing the flngers to be cut off im- medistely.
His mother. alone in the home with the child at the time, sum- moned help and rushed the little led to the Prince County Hospital for medical attention. He was al- lowed to return to his home last evening from the hospital.-B

Two Injured By car At Wellington
A 1035 Ford car, reported to have been driven by a boy from Wei. lington. struck a group of young people in front of the Co-Op Store in Wellington on Sunday evening. aending two of them. a boy and a girl, to the Prince County Hospital, in Suinmerside.
The two, both visitors to Wel- lington. were Victoria Farrah. 1:. from the Magdalen Islands: and George Oaudet. 14. of St. Nicholas. whose parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gaudet. of 8!. Nicholas. now living in Summerside.
It was reported that the car had been driving up and down the road, and just previous to-striking the couple had been in collision with a gas tank nearby.
The two who were sent to hosp- ital were part of a group who were about to attend an Easter social evening in Wellington.
The Gaudet boy received a sev- erely broken or fractured left leg, while the nature of the girls in- juries were reported to be less sev- ere.
It is understood that the driver of the car will appear in court to- day in connection with the accid- ent. - S.

Under the direction of John E. Cameron. the three-act play "Her Step Husband" was presented last evening in St. Paul's Hall by the St. Paul": Dramatic Club. under the auspices of the Surnmerslde Eouncil of the Knights of Colum-

Produced by special arrange- ment wltli T. S. Deniaon Co. Ltd. of Minneapolis. Minn. this fast moving comedy met. with a aplen- dld reception from the first night audience who apparently enjoyed every moment of the play from the opening curtain to the final scene.
Built for laughing purposes, the play deals with the unhappy sit- uations created by the wife with a too vivid imagination. Her at- tempts to cover up one situation merely created another eventmore embarrassing but. as is the case in all good dramas. the tangled web she weaves is finally un- tangled and everyone is happy.
The cast features old favorites who have entertained Summer- slde audiences in the past and also several newcomers. who in the opinion of the aiidlt-nre, more

The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Ellis of O'l.etiry is quite ill and on the advice of the family physician. Dr. L. G. D4-wnr was removed in the Prince County Hospital in Summerside on Thursday. April 10th.
Mrs. William Bryan left on Tues- day. April sth. for a short visit to Boston. Mass. the guest of rel- atives and friends after which she will return to her home in O'Leary.

Mrs. Heber Gard returned to her home in O'Leary on Monday, April 7th. after undergoing it major operation at the Prlnrta County Hospital in Summerside. For a while after her operation Mrs. Gard was dangerousiylilliut she is now feeling very much better and her many friends wish her a speedy convalesence.

Mr. swabey Jeiley of 0'Lcary who will be 87 the last of May. presented to the Church on Easter Sunday a love- ly Communion Set in memory of his wife. -A quiet but pretty wedding was soiemnized at the United Church Manse in 0'Leary on Monday morning, April 7th when Rev. W. G. Dickson united in the bonds of Holy Matrimony. Miss Laura Hazel Coilicutt of St. Lou- is. P.E.I.. and Mr. Eldon Leo- nard Costain. also of St. Louis. The best man was the brother of the groom. Howard Costain of St. Louis, while Mrs. W. G. Dickson was matron of honor. The young couple have the good wishes of many friends for a long and happy wedded life.

Dickson of 0'Leai'y was heard in a very appropriate and forceful address on the text: "We preach Christ Crucified." The organist was Mrs. Charles Moree- head. The ladies of the congre- gation had covered the pulpit. the Commun 'II Table and the collec- tion plates with lovely drapes which added to the beauty of the sacred sanctuary. Miss Alice Boyce also donated a number of Easter Lilies.

As was announced some time ago. a contract has been let to a .Port Hood. Nova Scotia firm, for the rebuilding of Holman's Wharf as a mooring place for fisherrneii. Mr. MacNaught said he expected work on this project would start in about three weeks and be complet- ed by the end of July.
Air Station Contract
The new building at the Air Sta- tion. of fire proof construction. will be in the nature of a garage. and will be large enough to accommo- date at least forty vehicles.
A contract for the steel work has already been awarded to the Robb Engineering Works of Amherst. N. S., and tenders for the main job will be called immediately.
