Great uneasiness prevails at Limerick owing to the ill- feeling existing between certain classes of citizens; and the mi = officer commanding addressed s commun cation to magistrates pointing out that the soldiers are unable to walk on the siroets at night without being stoned, and giving warning that the military will be com- pelled to fire on the people in self defence if the attacks continue.

The magistrates havé resolved to take extraordinary precautions to preserve peace.

At Charlottetown, on Sunday morning, the 5th inst., Matilda Smith, formerly of Richi- bucto, aged 79 years.

At Chicago, Ill., on the 20th November, after an illness of fifteen days of small pox, Anastasia M. Phee, Teacher, eldest daughter of the late Martin Phee. Norway, Lot 1, aged 19 years aud eight months. Deceased le‘t her home at Norway onthe 20th of July last, on 4 visit to her brother in Chicago, intending to return in September, but likiz :g the place she resolved to prolong herstay and made arrangements to take charge charge of asc hool there, intending to begin her duties on the 7th November; but on tuat day she was seized with the dread disease of which she died. Her many friends will mourn the loss of one who was universally loved for her many virtues and unaffected manners, and they sympathize deeply with the widowed mother and family in this their bereavement
