SUMMERSIDE—Charles Hogan was re-elected as director of the Summerside Lobster Carnival at a regular meeting of the carnival committee held last evening in the Civic Building presided over by general chairman Roy John- ston.

Miss Eileen Weeks was re-elec- ted secretary.

Mr. Hogan told the meeting, before his election. that he felt a new director should take over the carnival duties as he might be

guilty of low flying and sentenced him to a severe reprimand and a $200 fine. A severe reprimand usually prevents any possible pro- motion for years.

The RCAF court ordered an “experiment” whereby two offi- cers and a civilian were to watch three planes lily overhead at heights of 500, 1,000 and 1,500 feet and see if they could read the aircraft markings on the under- side of the wings.

L. C. Audette, QC, who wrote the board's judlgnent, said “this seems very singular indeed" be- cause the two officers appointed by the court were in the court at the time and knew the heights at which the planes would fly.

Mr. Audette added:

“The experiment was con- ducted at a time and place dif- ferent from those of the alleged offence. with a different plane, and in circumstances of visibility in no way shown to be identical with those prevailing at the time of the alleged otfenlce; even more important, it was carried out by three persons whose degree of visual acuity is in no way estab- lished to be in any way similar to that of the eyes which made the original observations."

The experiment seemed “strangely irrelevant," was in- admissatble evidence.

Cape Traverse Mission Band

The regular monthly meeting of the “Happy Sunbealms" mission band, Carleton Branch of the Cape Traverse United Church, met on Wednesday afternoon, Oc- tober 22nd. at the home of Eric Quigley.

In the absencc of the president, Mrs. MacCallum opened the meeting. The Mission Band pur- pose, was repeated in uni-son, fol- lowed by sirging the Mission Band Hymn. This was followed by repeating the Lord's Prayer.

Roll call was responded to by fourteen members. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
