Ayrshire Breeders Purchase Young Sire In Scotland

'Ihe Prince Edward Island Ayr- shirea breeders have purchased a seven month old calf in Scotland. the i Scottish sire that Is- land Ayrshire men have purchased in recent months. a

The decision to buy the young sire was made by a committee of the breeders association. The men had previously screed to buy two sires but had left the matter of selection to the committee. The first sire was bought by Mr. Fred Mac.R.ae for the Association.

Name of the seven month old sire is Dundruif Ciilt Edge. He is closely related on the sire's side to Burton Ducllist. the animal pur- chased by Mr. Macnae in April. The Gilt Ildge sire was purchased in Scotland by Mr. 11.0. Biggs of Ontario and repurchascd by the local men.

Mr. Macltae saw both animals in Scotland. They will be leaving Scotland later this month but it will probably be about the first of and gave up their much needed August before they arrive in this time to do this. 'tln my report last year. I ment- ioned the many different kinds of medicines given out. This year ,lhere was a great demand for cod liver oil. What we give comes itraight irom Newfoundland. With the 'i1u' at its peak in February we had a very busy and expensive month. Many calls were made at the homes. I think nearly as much medicine was given out then as all the rest of the winter put together. one hundred and thirty nine doctors' persoription runs were sent in during the year.

Plity of these were new ones and eighty-nine were refills.

"At praent there are seventy- nine index cards on file. The miority of these represent whole families, the remaining ones in some cases a single son in poor health. others eldery persons liv- ing alone. some with Old Age Pensions but others not quite old though for the pension.

"There were six deaths through he year. your persons moved to 'homes,' one to the Infirmary and three others to Beach Grove. Three iamilies moved away.

The Piusville Women's Institute held their meeting at the home oi Mrs. Joseph H. Gallant on May 8rd with an attendance oi twenty- one members. The meeting open- ed by prayer followed by. the roll call which was answered by ”Ga1-dening Hints." The minutes of thetlast. meeting and the tress- urers report were read approved and signed. All committees pres- ent reported satisfactorily and a dollar and a quarter was paid out for fruit for the sick.

Ramsay. convener oi agriculture; Miss Robin, our supervisor. and receipts from the Red Cross for donation and for sewing and knitting. Miss Jean Carr and Miss Mary Toombs were appointed to collect for the Salvation Army.

Mrs. W. Buntain reported hav- ing bought and sent a. number of cards, and it was moved and sec. -onded that she be paid for same. Several thank-you messages were received.

Reporting for sewing club. Mrs. Hooper said that she expected Miss Robin and Miss Boswell to be at the next meeting to Judge the work.
