(On the last sundsy in August. 1952 I was inspired to write the following v-arses, while riding over the beautiful countryside from Montague to Georgetown, thence to the. historic Brudenell Island, where many'of my mother's an- cestors are buried.)

' From Montague to Georgetown 011 we went asrldlng down:

Georgetown is on a. shining bay In which three sister rivers flow. Where the foaming white caps play As the tide goes to and fro. .

Once of busy ship renown,

And In many feats had a. goodly share.

But now 8. quaint and dreamy town.

Peace and quiet everywhere.

Today I had great. pleasure, And it came quite UIIRWBYCS, when friends were at their leisure, Untroubled by inciting cures.

It was 9. perfect pleasure- Sight seeing the country side. And a joy to till the measure Was old friends with whom.to ride

We motored down to Brudenell

Our ancestral Isle to see-

Where ocean waves sweet stories tell

Touched by sadness more than glee.

Our ancestors came from Scotland In eighteen hundred and three- They vcntui'ed 1T1 this new li1nd.. Seeking homes and liberty.

They settled down in Brudcnell. Amidst the forest pine and -birch Erectcd. homes In which to dwell, And on this Isle 3. little church.

Its history is filled with folk lore By our noble kin to us bestowed. We all should-cherish ever more The strength in faith they to us

showed.

o'er hallowed grotind we softly slept,

And stood beside the granite tomb.

Where many forbears long have slept

'Nesth native wee f'lower's bloom.

The epitaph aroused deep thought Reflecting on devparted kin,

Who knelt upon this sacred spot, Praying their freedom to begin. Freedom they so truly sought.

The sentiments of our noble kln Seemed softly whispered thru the trees- Cicstlng thankfulness within To be among their legatees.

Unless one's eyes have seen it,
