NEW YORK (AP) ~ The stock market made another modest rise Wednesday in c o m p a r a lively slack trading.

The market was preoccupied by expectations of a lower short interest which was announced af- ter the close. The drop was from

Expectations of congressional passage of the minerals subsidy program boosted Kentnecott to ‘a rise of 1%. Other non ‘ ferrous metals were also firm.

The Associated Press average of 60 stocks rose 70 cents to $183.30.

Aluminium Ltd. dropped 1/4 among Canadian issues. Canadian ‘Pacific gained 1/11. dome mines lost V4, Hudson Bay Mining ad- vanced -%, International Nickel was up Vs, McIntyre Porcupine lost 1% and Walker Gooderham was of! V8.

Among Canadian stocks on the American exchange Brazilian Traction gained 1/1, Sho-winigan was up 1%, Molybdenite ad- vanced 1-16 and Preston East Dome was down 1/s,l1‘argo Oil, Richvw‘ell and Scurry Rainbow Oil all dropped fractions.

To Be Success

HALIFAX (CP) — Lands and forests officials here say the camp—site developemnt program in Nova Scotia is already success- ful although still in a preliminary stage.

Three camp-sites are now avail- able and being used in the pro- vince. The development program is jointly sponsored by the Pro- vincial and Federal Governments.

The Shelburne site, opened Aug. 8, is on 55-acre Shepherd‘s Island. Another camp—site, with 15 acres cleared. is in operation at Why-
