m. Callaghan has held the posi- tion of Post Master since the retire- ment of Mr. Joseph McCsrey in June, i026, and has given admirable satis- faction in the discharge of his duties. He has had a long experience in the Post Oificc, h-avng entered the ser- vice fm-ty two years ago next Febru- ary as‘ junior clerk. and worked his way to the top of the ladder. The belt wishes of the public will accom- pany Mr. Callaghan in his well cam- ld retirement.

His probable successor, m. Bin-hoe. is well known to the citizens of Char- lottetown. he having occupied various positions in the Post Office for many years, and risdristepbystepimtiihis present anticipated promotion‘ to the Postmaster-ship. Ramsay MacDonald's trip to America for them as a special corres- pondent. The Prince was invited to name his own terms. when the Pre- mier heard of it he wss both amused and gratified that so much import- ance should be attached to his trip, said the Daily Mail correspondent.

The British and con- tinental buyers are simply not in the market; and the reason that they are not in the market is the price at which the Canadian wheat is held.

Eiritish and continental buyers apparently feel that they can fill their requirements from the Argen- tine and from the lower priced United States surplus, rather than paying the prices demanded on the wheat pit at Winnipeg; Canadian owners of wheat feel that the higher protein. value of Canadian wheat, and the necessity ior hard wheat tc mix with soil; in the milling process, just- ifies themln holding for prices higher than the ordinary relations to Liver- pool quotatlons, It is also no secret that the opinion is held in some Win- nipeg grain trading circles and in the wheat pool that, statistically, the wheat production in exporting count- ries plus their carry over from last year, totals some 75 million bushels less -than the normal demand from importing countras. For that reason which may be right or wrrms. 311B wheat pools recently offered a. prem- ium to farmers to induce them to hold their wheat until December or later.

The situation has become so much a matter of public wncem that a Joint statement, construed as a guarded warning, has been issued by E. W. Beatty and Sir Henry Thom- ton, presidents of the Canadian Pacific and Canadian National Rail- ways, respectively, setting the facts clearly before the public in relation to the deadlock which is immediately impending,

Cars Collide u At Cornwall i Two Injured I

A motor car accident occurred at‘; Cornwall shortly after noon yesterday l which resulted in two men being in- lured, one of them someuhat serious- ly. According to the information a- vailable, a truck owned by a man named Frizzell and driven by s young man named Goss from New Haven, crashed into s Ford coupe driven by John McDonald from Rice Point. Mr. McDonald and Rob- crt Currie, the other occupant in the car. were bcthinjured, Mr. Mc- Donald rewlving a bad scalp wound and having his right hip dislocated and leg fractured, while Mr. Currie received cuts about the face and head. The accident took place at u slight curve in the highway. Car and truck were travelling in the middle of the road and both, it is alleged. pulled out to pass on the same side. The re- sult was a head on collision in which both vehicles were demolished. [The two injured men were taken to the Prince Edward island Hospital in the ambulance. A few stitches suf- f iced for lVLr. Currie, who was allowed to leave, but as Mr. McDonald's case was more serious he remained in the hospital where he is reported to be resting nicely.
