FataL Accipent.— Mr. John Cumming, who lives in Lot 31, on his way home from town, near Poplar Island Bridge, fell from his cart and was killed. Mr.Cumming was in the store of the Hon. P. Walker, about 4 o'clock, where he did some business, and left with the intention of going directly home. We did not learn at what time the accident took place. The deceased was a very respectable man, about forty-five years ofage. One of his daughters accompanied him to the city, intending tu remain some time. She, therefore, was not with him when he fell from the cart. — Pat

After the exercises were over Judge Hensley briefly and highly complimented teachers and pupils on the gratifying results of their labors. He mentioned particularly the good discipline of the school, Good discipline, he told the pupils, would be of great advantage to them throughout their careers. I[t is one secret of the success of all really great men. He exhorted the pupils to make good use of the opportunities afforded them. Professor Anderson said it afforded him great pleasure to be present at the examination. He fully endorsed Judge HHensley’s favorable opinion respecting the character of the school.
