They Defeat the Second Victorias by One Point.

Those who were at the rink Jaet night witnessed one of the liveliest and most exciting heckey mutches of the season. The match was the closing one in the intermediate series for the elegavt trophy presenied by Mr. A. A. Bartlett. Toe contestants were the Crescents and the secoad Victorias, aad each team was in good condition and bent upon carrying off the coveted honor.

The puck was putin play about half- past eight, and it was not many minutes before 1} was taken out ofa scrimmage by Worth and placed between the Vics. goal posts. About ten minutes later, after rome lively stick-work, Mabon goi the puck and scored forthe Vics. This mad: the teams ties and the struggle was renewed with iocreased vigor. The rubber kept whizzieg abvut like a thing posseseed for the reat of the balf, but neither side scored. Thetwoteams seemed to be so evenly matched that it was diflicuit to pick & winner,

Then Mabon scored fer the Vice. and almost before the applause had sub sided McLean shot forthe Crescente, even- img the teame fer the third time. There were abou: five minutes of the half left, and both teams started in to make the most of it The spectators were wildly enthusiastic, and the most intense excite- ment prevailed. Hither and thither fl. w the puck, and leuder and louder grew the applause of the spectators. It was a trying time for those in the promenade as well as the players. But just before the bell rang Worth relieved the excitement by shooting for the Crescents,and eapturing the trophy.

After the match the trophy was formally presented by Mayor Warburton.

Mr. Walter Davidson,of Halifax, refereed the game.

The match between the Y. M. C. A’s. aod West Kent School was won by the first mentioned team, the score at the finish being 1 to 0
