Ross stated, at the time, that the reasons for his resignation were personal. He main- tained that he was serious in intending to resign.

The story was released by Radio U.P.E.I. A number of students reacted by asking Ross to reconsider. It was agreed that the resign- ation would be discussed at an Executive meeting on Sunday, November 15, and that Ross would remain in office pending the results of the meeting.

The meeting was a confrontation of phil- osophies. Ross maintained that certain Council members were not doing their share g

The other attitude on Council is that attend- ance at Council meetings is all that is required by the elected representatives. Committee work and other necessary duLies are not the responsibility of the Council as a whole but of the Executive. Council members have on three occasions defeated motions which would have required them to put in one hour per week working in the Union Offices with a member of the Executive.

At the Executive session Ross explained that _ his duties were hard to define specifically. He stated he was constantly at one type of meeting or another. This was in answer to a charge that he was not doing enough work for the Union.

Ross said that his resignation was prompted by health and study problems. He explained the need for more involvement by all members of Council. He told the Executive it was their duty, collectively, to provide leadership and UNIVERSITY
