A large num- ber of members were present in- cluding several new members. The main business of the meetingwas the finalizing of plans for a charter night. next week. The charter will.be presented to the Montague Board by Mr. Montague Allldis. national president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

. 'PRESENT PROGRAM -- A guard and band from HM.C.S. Cornwallis last night put on a program at Sourls which was wit- nessed and enjoyed by a large number of the town's citizens, in addition to a number of visitors from surrounding areas. The guard held a parade on Main street, durlng.which the salute was taken by Mayor J. Arthur Peters from in front of the Post Office. Later the band gave an enjoyable con- cert in St. Mary's Parish llall. The auditorium was filled to overflow- ing. '

'Montague's oldest Mrs. Elisa. Campbell. her ninety-fifth birthday at the home of her daughter, Mrl. Win- niired Bell, Thursday, September 30. Present for the happy occasion were members of the immediate family including her son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Whitehead, Saint John. N.B. Mrs. Campbell received many lovely gifts, cards and messages of con- gratulations. At the supper hour, the table was centered with a beautifully decorated birthday cake which was made by Miss Marnie Sorrey. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Myers. sour- is. motored to Lorne Valley on Sun- day. They were guests of Mrs. My- ers' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Shaw.

Mr. Heath MacGrath and Miss Joan MscGrath were week - end visitors to Nova Scotia. While in Truro they were guests of their brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Maccvrath.

The illness of Mrs. Charles Muc- Leod, Roseneath, is regretted by her many friends. Mrs. Maclleod. a. former resident of this vicinity, has many friends here who are pulling for a complete recovery.

Passengers traffic via the Wood Islands-Caribou Perry during the month of Bqtamber 1034 has shown decrease of 632 compared to the same period last year. A de- crease of '1'! in autos and 111 in tnlcks is also reported.

The total number of passeng- ers. autos and trucks with last years figures in brackets are as follows: Passengers 11,351 (ii..- 983); autos 8.306 (8.208); trucks 864 (907).

IN MEMORIAM

MR. GEORGE E. WILSON

The death of- George Edward .wilson. occurred suddenly at his home at Cardigan North on June 28th. 1054.

The late Mr. Wilson was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Allan Wilson and was born February 7th.

1881. . During his lifetime which was spent in cardigan, Mr. Wilson

farmed successfully and was al- ways ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He will be greatly missed in the community. but es- pecially by the family. who will ever cherish his memory.

He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret A. Wlnsloe and four daughters. these are Mary, Mrs. Robert Sylvia. Boston. Mass; Celene, Mrs. John Maclntyre; Kathleen, Mrs. John D. Campbell and Hilda, Mrs. lllmmett Rice, all of Cardigan. one brother and three sisters also survive, they are John of Cardigan; Margaret. Catherine. Mrs. Daniel MacDonald and Elisa. Mrs. John Doyle. all of Halifax.

I-ils funeral took place on Thursday. July 1st, with Roquiem High Mass at All Saints Church. Cardigan. The Mass was celebrated by his pastor. Rev. J. P. E. O'Hara- iey. Services at the grave were con- ducted by Rev. Owen Kiggins. Georgetown.

The pail bearers were: Stephen Livingstone, Walter Byrne. John Maclntyre. Daniel sandal-son. Thomas Wilson and Malcolm Campbell. Interment was in the adjoining church cemetery.
